Why We Do It

The Movement for Black Lives has galvanized hundreds of thousands of Black community organizers to take action against white supremacy in all its various forms.

Many of these Black folk do so under the burden of financial insecurity and/or are not compensated for their physical, intellectual, creative, and emotional labor.

Recognizing a need within the Movement for Black Lives, founder Arielle Newton started this collective to ensure that Black people, especially those who see themselves involved in the Movement, are directly compensated.

We’re normalizing the act of direct giving to Black people.

There are many established and emerging racial justice organizations that reap millions in donations that their unpaid members and underpaid staff do not have access to. We are here to fill this void.
